Where To Begin

Contact Laurie for a free legal consultation to help you understand your legal options. The legal option you choose will have the biggest impact on your divorce, and on your life. Laurie mediates, litigates, negotiates, and offers unbundled legal services, so she fully understands all your choices.

Your Options: There are two legal options to and your marriage in the State of Ohio.

1.     Litigation: You or your spouse files a complaint, the other spouse files an answer, and you are duking it out in front of a judge.

2.     Dissolution: You and your spouse both agree to end your marriage, you agree on all the terms, and you have written and signed agreements proving you are in agreement.

If you would like a dissolution, you have a few options:

1.     Mediation: As a neutral, Laurie works with you and your spouse to help you both reach agreements that you each agree with.

2.     Negotiation: Laurie will negotiate with your spouse or their attorney to assist in reaching agreements.

3.     Unbundled Legal Services: You retain Laurie for the assistance you deem appropriate, whether it be just for legal advice, or just for the preparation of documents.

Mediation is the most cost-effective option, and allows people to have the advice of a legal professional without all the hassle and stress of duking it out in court.

If you have children, consider retaining a mediator or attorney who has experience as a Guardian ad Litem. A Guardian ad Litem has insights as to what is in the best interests of your children and how to develop a parenting plan that is best for them.
